DRB-HICOM Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd
DRB-HICOM Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd (DEFTECH), is a wholly owned subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Berhad incorporated on 17th October 1996 as a key industrial driver towards Malaysia’s self-relience defence aspirations. DEFTECH is a premier defence company setting the benchmark in design, development, manufacturing and supply of armoured and logistics vehicles for all sectors of Malaysian National Security. Synonymous with excellent land systems maintenance repair & overhaul capabilities DEFTECH is a trusted service provider for military based MRO. In the domains of aerospace, composite structures, unmanned systems and systems integration, DEFTECH is the holder of integral International-standard industry certifications and accreditations.
Defence Services Sdn. Bhd. (DSSB) was originally established in 1987 as a division of MMC Engineering. In 2001, it became a wholly-owned subsidiary of DEFTECH and was known as MMC Defence Sdn. Bhd. (MMCD). As MMCD, the company pioneered and maintained its leadership position in armoured vehicles maintenance, repair, refurbishment and upgraded vendor solutions to Malaysian Armed Forces. Currently, DSSB has a dedicated plant in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, equipped to cater for the third and fourth line of maintenance for the Army’s fleet of armoured vehicles. DSSB has continued moving forward over the years to become a premier maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service provider and will continue to set the standards for the industry.
Established in 1990, DEFTECH Aviation Sdn. Bhd. is widely regarded as the first national composites light aircraft manufacturer with the production of the Eagle 150B. As a proud composites technology specialist with design and manufacturing competency, DEFTECH Aviation has ventured in composites manufacturing projects of ground radar dome, Wigetworks Airfish 8 pre-production, diplomatic locker for Airbus A320 and composites fixtures manufacturing. Operating from Melaka, DEFTECH Aviation previously ventured into advanced aviation composites, becoming a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) hub to support the Eagle 150B’s operations.
Today, it has expanded its expertise into commercial and military based MRO to support narrow-body aircraft and helicopters. DEFTECH Aviation is accredited by both local and international authorities and specialises in composites and metal repair for nose radome, cargo panel, flap, aileron and fuselage for aircrafts Airbus A320, Boeing B737, CN235 and BAE Hawk.
DEFTECH Unmanned Systems Sdn. Bhd. (DEFTECH US), originally known as Unmanned Systems Technology Sdn Bhd, was established in 2007 in response to a Ministry of Defence mandate for Malaysian industries to collaborate in the development of a truly Malaysian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). DEFTECH US offers a wide range of UAV products and services with the necessary tools, expertise, and certification from the relevant authorities to simplify the surveillance and monitoring needs of your business. DEFTECH US engages with clients right from the start and tailors solutions to suit their needs while producing novel ideas, developing efficient UAV systems and delivering high performance and reliable services in-house.
DEFTECH US leverages breakthroughs in composites technology, cutting edge aerospace technical know-how, and proven real-world military applications to develop indigenous, advanced, customised and cost-effective UAV solutions and monitoring services including pipeline, power line and electrical tower inspection services.
